What Do I Need for NMC Revalidation?
To renew your registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), you need to demonstrate that you have remained professionally active, continued your learning and reflected on your practice during your three-year registration period.
Your NMC revalidation requirements include:
450 practice hours
Complete at least 450 hours of registered practice during the three-year revalidation period.
35 hours of CPD
Complete 35 hours of continuing professional development relevant to your scope of practice. At least 20 hours must be participatory learning.
5 pieces of practice-related feedback
Collect five pieces of feedback about your professional practice.
5 written reflective accounts
Complete five written reflective accounts based on CPD, feedback and/or an event or experience in your professional practice, and relate these to the NMC Code.
Reflective discussion
Discuss your five reflective accounts with another NMC registrant.
Health and character declaration
Professional indemnity arrangement
Confirmation
An appropriate person must confirm that you have met the revalidation requirements.
I've just rechecked these against the current NMC requirements, and they are correct.
One useful current point: the NMC is reviewing the Code and revalidation process in 2026, but the requirements above are the ones currently stated by the NMC.
